Kokuhaku Yokou Renshuu: Hatsukoi no Ehon is the third novel in the Kokuhaku Yokou Renshuu novel series. This book focuses on the events of the Love Series songs Hatsukoi no Ehon, Hatsukoi no Ehon -another story-, and Sayonara Ryou Kataomoi.

The events of this novel would later become the basis for the third Honeyworks animation project and six-episode miniseries Itsu Datte Bokura no Koi wa 10 Centi Datta..

Synopsis[]

A novel adaption of HoneyWorks’ “Hatsukoi no Ehon (Picture Book of My First Love)“ about the president of the Art Club, Miou, and the Film Club’s star, Haruki. The two third years from Sakuragaoka High School walk home together every day, but Miou is too shy to tell him her feelings. While helping with his movie, Miou asks him, “Do you have a crush on anyone?” and to her great surprise, Haruki answers, “I do.” And what’s more, Haruki confesses to Natsuki, his childhood friend?!

Intro[]

Koyuki goes in for a haircut the week before Yu and Natsuki's wedding. He tells his longtime barber about the pair's relationship with pride, but accidentally lets slip that Natsuki was his first love. Although somewhat bitter about his experiences with her, he's able to look back on his time in high school with a smile, leading into the events of the third novel.

Differences Between Adaptations

  • The subplot about the film club making a final school film project is excised in Premium Live. Natsuki's practice confession with Haruki also goes unadapted, with the bulk of the drama concerning only Miou and Haruki's unspoken feelings and the dilemma of Haruki moving away for film school at the end of the school year. However, Sota's jealousy towards Haruki gets a small nod at the end of Haruki and Miou's story, in which Sota overhears Akari calling Haruki's film cool and has a very small tantrum about it.
  • Unlike the book and in Boku10, Chiaki's past and death play no significant role in the music and Premium Live retelling. It still forms a big part of Haruki's overall backstory.
  • Haruki and Miou's reunion years after they graduate happen slightly differently. In the music continuity (particularly in "Ippun Ichibyou Kimi to Boku no"), it occurs six years later at a get together with the 3-2 gang, while in Premium Live they properly meet again at their usual staircase. They properly confess in the latter, while it takes a while for them to do in the same in the music continuity
